Grocery Shopping in Sheffield

HOUSEWIVES IN SHEFFIELD

We usually cook in Sheffield because eating out can be expensive.
Almost everyday, every meals, we cook !
That's why groceries play a big role in our daily lives in Sheffield !

Hence, we do grocery shopping almost twice a week !
We almost like a housewife already.. haha

Thanks to this summer program, I have brushed up my cooking skill :)
hehe.. from don't know how to cook to at least can cook to fill up my stomach ! haha
K praised me too :)

Chicken, meat, beef, vegetables, fruits, cookies, milk are all in affordable prices in various supermarkets !
Of course, you can get them at a cheaper price at Castle market !
However, we usually buy vegetables and fruits from Castle market only :)
Why? Find out yourself :)
*The cheapest rice we could find is from Aldi/Asda - 40p per kg

Below are the few supermarkets where you can buy cheap groceries !
Asda - (Located at Queens Road, 5 mins walk from Charlotte Court, near to Bramall Court)
Aldi - (Located at London Road, 5 mins walk from The Forge, near to Bramall Court & Charlotte Court)

Sainsbury - (Located in The Moor)

Poundland - (Located in The Moor) *everything is £1 here♥ I got my Bueno here

99p Stores - (Located in City Centre) *everything is 99p here*

Castle Market - (The very clean wet market located behind Primark in Sheffield City Centre)

Kwong Hing - (Located near to Aldi) *get your Chinese food here*

Dai Sun - (Located at The Moor) *get your Chinese food here*

Me in Asda :)

I Will Miss Sheffield

LAST 14 DAYS IN SHEFFIELD

Together, we came here after we graduated from Advance Diploma in Management Accounting (AMA)

We have been gone through a lot of things: study, exams, parties, trips, conflicts......

Sometimes we are crazy,
sometimes we are so serious !

And together, we have been here for almost 3 months.
Could remember how we met in KLIA, boarded the plane and reached Manchester Airport!
Everyone was shivering during the first day we arrived ! haha

Let us appreciate and enjoy the last 14 days in Sheffield !!

I will miss Sheffield !
Of course, I will miss everyone of you :)

Missed out Huang :(

Eating Out in Sheffield

FOOD FOOD FOOD IN SHEFFIELD

Eating/Dining at restaurants can be expensive or not affordable for normal students !
It cost around £4 - £9 depends on what you order ...
Hence, we usually cook our lunch and dinner !

Yes ! C-O-O-K !
I know that we don't usually cook in Malaysia......
We used to go out and dine in at hawker stalls !
But there are no hawker stalls in England !

We brought a lot of instant packets from Malaysia :)
Example : Bak Kut Teh, Tom Yam paste, Curry Paste, Herbal soup pack......

Then, we just buy the ingredients from Asda, Aldi or Castle market and we cook using the packets we brought ! hehe

For Malaysian, I think we couldn't survive if we just eat western food here for 3 months ! hehe so my advice is bring more food/paste but lesser clothes !

You are gonna miss all the Nasi Lemak, Curry Mee, Tom Yam Mee, Laksa, Roti canai and many more when you are here !
I am missing them badly now ......

Jack said : " If someone selling nasi lemak for £10 here, I will buy ! " haha

All the chefs from Flat 44.
Fong Yee wasn't here by that time yet ! :(

Cooking contest ! haha
Which one are you going to eat ?

Bak Kut Teh !

Curry chicken !

Bake Chicken !

Pizza !
Easy and fast dinner !
Bought from any grocery shop and oven it !
*It is quite cheap & yummy*

Our home made western food :)

Dine in Chinese Restaurants

There are two Chinese restaurants located at London Road which are quite well known among the students here !
They are Mandar Inn & Noodle Inn :)

The restaurants are packed with people especially during weekends ! We might need to wait for 30 mins in order to get seated !

Oh ya ... share the dishes ! Because they come in a BIG portion !
We usually ordered 4 dishes and shared among 7 persons ...
It will cost us around £4-£6 per person (depends on what you order)

Western Food

Don't forget to try out some local food !
Burgers, steak, fish and chips and many more !!
There are some local restaurants offering good deals and sometimes it may be cheaper for us to have western food compared to Chinese food :)

We tried out the one in City centre namely The Bankers Draft.
There is a deal where you choose 2 meals for £6.49 !!!

The other restaurant we have been before was the one opposite Owen Building !
Where you choose 2 meals for £6 !

You would find a lot of chips come with the meal !
Normally, we are having difficulty in finish up the chips .. haha

Kebab Restaurant

There are quite a number of Kebab restaurant in Sheffield !
We love to visit one Kebab restaurant (Chinos) in London road, near Aldi because it offers the cheapest kebab in town !
It is in a BIG BIG portion for only £2.50 !!!!!!!!

The kebab here not like the kebab in Malaysia.
Try it out yourself :)

Girls can't finish up one portion of this !
Guys are having difficulty in finishing up this too !

Italian Food

It was our special day and so we treated ourselves a good food ! As in really good one !
Because it is quite expensive for a student like us !
The Italian food cost above £10 per serving !!!
However, it is super duper yummy :)

The name of the Italian food restaurant is AskItalian, located in city centre, near John Lewis ...

Had a great dinner with K :)

Me love carbonara !
